“Dark kitchens” can be exploitative to workers, bad for local restaurants and disruptive to residents. The Royal Society for Public Health has found concerning evidence that chefs in these secret kitchens are hidden away in “cramped and low paid” environments.

Haringey is the home to fabulous food, but traders are worried that “ghost kitchens” are growing. David Lammy & I have called on the Government to act.

I talked to the Ham & High about my concerns.

Following our letter, I welcomed the opportunity to meet Deliveroo at their Cranford Way kitchens.  Together with Haringey’s Council Leader, Wood Green BID and Green Lanes traders we met in June and talked about terms and conditions for riders & chefs and the importance of proper regulation. I’m glad workers now have the power of a union behind them with the new Deliveroo & GMB agreement. It’s vital our high streets & food standards aren’t threatened.
