Catherine West MP MP for Hornsey & Wood Green and Labour Candidate for Hornsey & Friern Barnet
A General Election is happening on Thursday 12 December and the fight is on for the future of our country.
Let’s stop this Brexit mess with a final say referendum and then transform our society with a radical programme to tackle climate change, end austerity and build a country for the many not the few.
My record on Brexit is clear. I believe the UK is stronger, better and more peaceful within the European Union. That’s why I:
- Voted against triggering Article 50.
- Was one of the first MPs to call for a final say referendum with the option to remain.
- Voted to revoke Article 50 rather than risk a catastrophic “no deal” that would wipe billions from our economy and leave us with even less for our hard-pressed public services. After nine years of crippling austerity our communities cannot afford such Tory recklessness.
- Was a petitioner in the legal battle that saw Johnson’s Parliament shut-down ruled unlawful.
This Brexit mess has taken over our politics, but our efforts in Parliament have prevented Johnson steamrollering through his botched deal.
Now we need a Labour government to reverse this car crash with a final say referendum and a vote to remain within 6 months of entering office.
I have stood up for our proudly remain constituency in Parliament – let’s send a message to Boris Johnson that his reckless, ruthless and divided Government pushing Farage & Trump’s hard Brexit is not wanted here.
It might be snowing on Thursday 12 December – sign up for a postal vote so, whatever the weather, you get to have your say.
