Friendship Day
Friendship Day

Friendship Global, based in Noel Park, Haringey was established on 11 September 2001 after the appalling events of 9/11.  It seeks to create a better and more peaceful world and promote friendships locally and internationally, with the aim of recognising 29 April as a National & International Day of Friendship.  Friendship Global hope that their concepts of Friendship Memorials and Friendship Benches and Trees will spread through all communities across the UK.

In these difficult times the values of friendship, of community and of coming together are more important than ever.  This Friendship Day our communities may be socially distanced, but in our hearts we are united.  I welcome the work of Friendship Global and share its desire to create a better and more peaceful world through friendships.

Whilst we can’t mark the event together this year, here are some pictures from Friendship Global’s archive celebrating their work since 2001.
