I wrote to the Chief Executive of Haringey Council on 18 May about my wish to see Haringey implement a Covid-19 Emergency Transport Action Plan and put in place schemes as soon as possible to support residents to walk and cycle.

You can also read the official response to my letter from Haringey Council here.  (received 4 June 2020)

Without rapid action, we risk Haringey residents, most of whom do not have access to a car, having to choose to make their journeys by a potentially crowded public transport system running at a fraction of its usual capacity, turning to car use which will lead to gridlocked, polluted streets, or having to brave those newly-gridlocked streets on foot or bike. This situation is particularly acute in Haringey, where 65% of the people who normally travel to work do so by public transport, the 3rd highest of all local authorities in the country.

That’s why I have written again today to ask that the Council look again at the number of low traffic neighbourhoods proposed and see what more can be done.  You can read my latest letter here.
