Current constituency of Hornsey & Wood Green
Current constituency of Hornsey & Wood Green

The Boundary Commission for England has now published its first set of proposals for new constituency boundaries. This is the third time in 10 years that the Commissions have started a review of UK Parliament constituencies and the current proposals put forward a number of changes to the constituency of Hornsey & Wood Green.

The proposals currently open for consultation would see Fortis Green, Highgate and Muswell Hill ward move into a new constituency called Finchley & Muswell Hill.  West Green and White Hart Lane wards currently in Tottenham constituency would move to Hornsey & Wood Green constituency.  I submitted a formal response to this first stage of the consultation which you can read on the Boundary Commission’s website.

While my firm preference is to keep my Hornsey and Wood Green constituency intact I know that the independent Boundary Commission have an incredible difficult job to do and the reality is that the constituency is too big to be kept together. My focus now is on ensuring any new constituencies arising from the Commission’s proposals fit the needs of our communities and I have made this clear in my formal submission to the Commission.
