Lloyds Bank
Lloyds Bank

Only a day after presenting my petition on NatWest’s Crouch End closure, I got the news that Lloyds Bank in Muswell Hill is set to close its doors.  It’s another blow for our high streets, for the many local residents who still rely on branches to access cash and for the hard-working staff.

With fifty bank branches closing each month since 2015 this is a national problem that needs a national solution.  I want to see banks take their social responsibilities seriously and in Parliament today I urged the Government to act.

Watch my question to the Leader of the House here:

I’ve asked the Chancellor what steps he is taking to ensure access to cash for elderly and vulnerable people and received this response to my written question.

I have also written to Lloyds Bank to express my strong opposition to these plans, ask what consultation will be taking place and what support is being offered to residents and small businesses who rely on its services.  I’ve also asked about the hard-working branch staff as I am concerned that reports suggest the 48 bank branch closures announced this week may result in the loss of 178 jobs.

If you’re a customer at this branch and will be affected by this news, please get in touch.
