Catherine West MP and Cllr Peray Ahmet, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Adults & Health, delivered a giant birthday card signed by hundreds of Haringey residents to the staff at North Middlesex Hospital to thank them for their work since the NHS was founded.
The card, dedicated to “NHS staff past and present” is covered with goodwill messages from local people. One wrote “you saved my life in 1958”. Another wrote “thank you for saving my son’s life”. Another wrote simply “so proud of the NHS, thank you”. The messages were collected from local residents and shoppers in Crouch End and were presented to Mark Vaughan, the hospital’s director of human resources.
Catherine West MP said “the card is a thank you from the people of Haringey for the great work your staff do and have done over many years. Many local people depend on the care you provide”.
Cllr Peray Ahmet said “I was born at North Mid. You are such an important part of the community. So many of us have received care here”.
Chief Executive Maria Kane said “Seventy years is a fantastic milestone for any organisation and North Mid has come a long way thanks to our dedicated and incredible staff. We are all very grateful for the many kind birthday wishes and the support we have received from the local community on this great occasion. We are proud to be able to provide local people with such high quality health services, free of charge, thanks to the NHS and we will continue to do so”.
