Following Royal Mail’s announcement that they are exploring the closure of Muswell Hill Delivery Office, Catherine West MP said:
“I strongly oppose these shortsighted plans to close Muswell Hill Delivery Office, meaning that customers would be forced to travel all the way to Wood Green to pick up a parcel. For elderly, disabled people or parents with small children that means huge inconvenience, long bus journeys and bigger queues. It also hits small business holders and sole traders who rely on these crucial services.
Since the Tory Lib Dem Coalition privatised Royal Mail back in 2013, we have seen a relentless programme of delivery office closures across the country. Over 140 have shut their doors already as customer convenience and service quality are sacrificed for shareholder profit.
I have requested an urgent meeting with the Chief Executive of Royal Mail where I will call for these plans to be cancelled and Muswell Hill Delivery Office saved.”
Talk to Catherine about the proposals at her special drop-in on Friday 9 November from 3-4.30pm at the Birchwood Centre, 171 Fortis Green Road, Muswell Hill N10 3BG
