“It’s Living Wage Week 2018, but 5.75 million low-paid workers won’t be taking that home. Instead they’re struggling to get by on poverty pay.
That includes cleaners in some Government Departments. Since I was first elected, I’ve been asking why there’s such inconsistency between departments and why the Tories aren’t showing leadership and demanding its contractors pay the living wage.
Now I’ve asked for a Parliamentary debate to give this issue the attention it deserves.
The Chancellor talked about his “aspiration to end low pay” in last week’s Budget – he should start on his own doorstep.”
