Bring back Hornsey Delivery Office
Bring back Hornsey Delivery Office

It was a big blow to the local community when Hornsey Sorting Office closed its doors back in 2014, under the Coalition Government.  It left residents having to take two buses, drive or cycle over to N19 to collect parcels.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve seen how badly the N8 and N4 areas have been affected by delivery problems, partly due to the huge demand for postal services.  Royal Mail have told me that the number of parcels processed each week has rocketed from 35,000 to 60,000 with tracked items increasing from around 9,500 to a staggering 22,000.   They expect demand to remain high for many months to come.

I want to see Royal Mail giving N8 and N4 mail the priority it deserves by bringing back a local delivery office to improve the service and prevent residents from having to travel to collect mail once delivery offices can safely re-open.

Bring back Hornsey Delivery Office

We, the undersigned, believe that the volume of post and parcels in the N8 and N4 area means Hornsey needs its own sorting office once again. Despite public opposition, Hornsey Sorting Office closed its doors in 2014, forcing residents to travel to N19 to collect parcels. We urge Royal Mail to explore re-opening a local delivery office to improve this vital service for local residents and businesses.
