Localised flooding in Haringey over the weekend of 24-25 July
Localised flooding in Haringey over the weekend of 24-25 July

I am very sorry that there has been more localised flooding in parts of Hornsey & Wood Green over the weekend.   It’s a double blow for residents and businesses who are still recovering from the recent flash flooding earlier this month.

Cllr Peray Ahmet, Leader of Haringey Council has put out this statement below for people affected and needing support:

“I am sorry to hear that, following the heavy rain today, several areas in Haringey are experiencing localised flooding.

The council has acted immediately and is doing their upmost to assist those who have been affected. Our Highways Team and Local Authority Liaison Officers are on site, and we are working with Thames Water and London Fire Brigade to ensure the issues are resolved as quickly as possible. Following the flooding in recent weeks our Highways Team have been working hard to address the areas that were affected, such as Park Road, and we are currently on site in several areas across the borough to assess the situation and ensure resources are prioritised appropriately.

If your home or business has been affected our Emergency Out of Hours Team are on hand to help. Please call them on 0208 489 0000 and choose option 4.”

If you’ve been affected and are struggling to access the support you need please do get in touch with my office.  We have to see these events as a wake-up call for Governments to be bolder in cutting emissions and improving resilience, with further freak weather events likely if we do not act now to halt the rise in global temperatures.
