I was sorry to hear of the death of Fred Howe, who died on October 27 2021 at the age of 102. He used to host the Hornsey Pensioners Action Group Committee Meetings in his living room and he was a friend of Hornsey Central Hospital before it was demolished. He also used to help with the garden at The Grange, a home supporting people with dementia that had helped his own wife. He will be much missed by his family, friends and the wider community.
His sister, Janet, has written this tribute to his memory and a long life well lived.
Born Sheerness 30th July 1919, Fred died peacefully at home in Hornsey on 27th October 2021, aged 102.
After an eventful life as a scientist, he was active locally, putting his technical and engineering skills to use in helping charities and the disabled whilst enjoying his love of dancing. He is mourned by his extended family and friends. With his wife Liane, who died in 1998, he had five children, four of whom survive.
The family funeral will be held at Hendon Crematorium at 2pm on November 20th organised by AW Luck Funerals Ltd., 3 Church Lane, N2 8DX, 020 8883 2429. Floral tributes welcome.
