Recent weeks have seen yet more violent crime on our streets, with the shocking stabbing of a teenager in Crouch End.  It’s desperately sad to see this cycle of violence continue with so little action from the Conservative Government or even acknowledgement of the impact nine years of Tory and Lib Dem austerity has had on policing, youth services, schools and preventative approaches.  Since 2010, we’ve seen 21,000 police officers taken off our streets and 760 youth centres closed. Every expert, the police, and the Home Office recognise this link.

Hundreds of Hornsey & Wood Green residents signed my open letter to the new Prime Minister Boris Johnson to say enough is enough – we need urgent action.

On his first day in office, I was joined by Haringey’s Council Leader Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, Community Safety Lead Cllr Mark Blake, Joanne McCartney AM and Cllr Dana Carlin to personally deliver our important message to Downing Street.
