Dear constituents,

What a year it has been! Three Prime Ministers and one disastrous mini-budget later, it’s hard to find a happy way to end 2022. But I would like to take the opportunity to thank all my constituents for their endless support during this extremely difficult time.

I hope that, despite all the hardships that we have endured this year, we can spend the next few days with family and friends. Although Christmas can be a wonderful time of the year, it can also be a more poignant and tricky time for others. So I wish you all a restful break, however you are spending this period.

Next year will be full of challenges, old and new. But one thing will remain the same – the Tories and their dreadful policies. Tory MPs have run out of ideas, energy and competence and with an unelected Prime Minister, it’s time for a fresh start. It’s time for a Labour Government.

As always, here are some of my best 2022 reads:

  • Harold Wilson: The Winner by Nick Thomas-Symonds
  • Factory Girls: Voices from the Heart of Modern China by Leslie T. Chang
  • Too Big to Jail by Chris Blackhurst
  • Poverty Safari by Darren McGarvey
  • The China Nexus by Benedict Rogers
  • The Social Distance Between Us by Darren McGarvey

It was such an honour to win the Patchwork Foundation Overall MP of the Year award, so thank you to everyone who nominated me. I look forward to continuing my work as your Member of Parliament and continuing to hold this awful Government to account. If there is anything else I can do, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my office.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

Catherine
