St James’ Church free Legal Advice Centre has been a vital lifeline to so many local residents since it was founded by Peter Thompson QC over 20 years ago.
As years of Government cuts to legal aid have made it ever harder for people to access justice, their services are more in demand than ever. But they urgently need more legally trained volunteers to keep running their Coppetts & Colney (Tuesday mornings) clinics.

Hosted by St James’s Church, Muswell Hill, the free Legal Advice Centre currently operates from 2 clinics: Muswell Hill and Coppetts & Colney. The Centre was founded over 20 years ago by Peter Thompson QC, former legal adviser to the Department for Work and Pensions. We provide a walk in and appointment service on a wide range of issues. Details can be found here.
Legal advisers should be qualified solicitors or barristers, or have a legal qualification, and want to help people with their everyday justice problems.
