Closing remarks by Bibi Khan, Wightman Road Mosque:

“It really causes me great concern that we have to hold a meeting about stopping the rise of the far right. What does that say about the deterioration in the decades of hard work for community cohesion of our country.

It is clear to see that the far right movement is on the increase and many things contribute to this – Brexit, Trump and false information about immigration.  The Far Right are pedalling division, attacking minorities, Islamophobic, and encouraging violence and hatred.

Let me make it clear that some of the refugee problems has arisen because of the western governments outrageous foreign policy.   I will do what I want in your countries but you stay away from mine.

The green light has been given and encouraged by the leader of the Free world!  Trump has contributed to the rise in racism across the world by his Islamohobic message, the ban, and the actions against the Mexicans. Even today his whole story is about fear as he restates the story about immigration. He is the far right mouth piece

I do believe that Trump and many others forget that their families were immigrants yet they were given the ability to progress to the positions they have today and that’s ok.

Last week Wightman Road Mosque joined with MHS to observe the genocide of Srebrenica.  That was only 23 years ago – in our time this happened.  Look at Rohinga its still happening. We shouldn’t have to observe and remember – it shouldn’t be happening!

It is vital we stand together more forcefully than we have ever done, we have to defend our communities if we are to impact the cessation of this movement. It was our brothers, sisters and children of the Jewish faith before, it’s the Muslim families and countries now it will be another group after this.”

We must unite, we must stop the Far Right
