Catherine West MP Standing up for Hornsey & Wood Green

Labour’s efforts saw the UK become the first Parliament in the world to declare a climate change emergency. Sadly there is no sense that Boris Johnson’s Government is treating this emergency with the urgency it needs and the gap between our emissions reduction goals and the Government’s policies to meet them is only increasing.
From the dark of the Covid-19 pandemic, comes the opportunity to do things differently. We can’t return to toxic air and traffic-choked streets, instead Labour will fight for a green recovery fit to tackle the looming climate emergency.
The Guardian’s climate ranking awarded me 100% on my green voting record, and in Parliament I’ve led calls for supermarkets to eliminate plastic packaging, called for Government investment to support Plastic Free Communities, spoken out about the need to make all new homes zero-carbon and backed tougher action to decarbonise our polluting transport system.
