Catherine West MP Standing up for Hornsey & Wood Green
Labour’s efforts saw the UK become the first Parliament in the world to declare a climate change emergency. Sadly there is no sense that the Government is treating this emergency with the urgency it needs and the gap between our emissions reduction goals and the Conservative Government’s policies to meet them is only increasing.
Labour’s Green Prosperity Plan will cut energy bills, create good jobs and put climate leadership at the heart of everything we do as we accelerate to net-zero.
The Guardian’s climate ranking awarded me 100% on my green voting record, and in Parliament I’ve led calls for supermarkets to eliminate plastic packaging, called for Government investment to support Plastic Free Communities, spoken out about the need to make all new homes zero-carbon and backed tougher action to decarbonise our polluting transport system.
