British Council staff in Afghanistan

Reports in the media that there are around 100 British Council staff in hiding from the Taliban in Afghanistan is deeply concerning. 

As Shadow Minister for Asia and the Pacific, I have written to the Foreign Minister to ask for an urgent assessment of these reports, and for clarification on the numbers of those remaining.
