It was such a pleasure to host the Creative Access Masterclass on Politics, Journalism and Diversity, and to welcome so many young people into The House of Commons.

Creative Access is a social enterprise that works with organisations in the creative industry to increase diversity and inclusion. They also provide career advice and support to young people hoping to break into these tough industries. In the masterclass, we heard from Rajdeep Sandhu, the Westminster Correspondent at BBC Scotland, Njoki Mahiaini who works for the Mayor of London, Alan Mak MP and Lord Verjee – all sharing their wisdom and kind words of encouragement.

Sadly, there remains many barriers in these industries and much more needs to be done to increase diversity and ensure that everyone has access to these careers, support and guidance. I will always encourage young people to get into politics as Parliament works best when it reflects the country it represents. My next Politics Summer School will take place in July 2023 and I’ll be publishing details on this very soon!
