It was a privilege to meet my constituent Dennah at the #WidenWindrush lobby of Parliament and give my support to the campaign to amend the Windrush Scheme to provide a route to citizenship for those descendants and family members currently excluded.

The Windrush scandal was a gross injustice and a direct result of the “hostile environment” that the Tory-Lib Dem coalition pioneered, most infamously when Theresa May literally rolled out “Go Home” vans to stoke fear into our communities.

The Government’s Windrush Scheme doesn’t go far enough to right the wrongs. It must be widened and I’ll continue to champion this cause in Parliament.
