You don’t level up the country by levelling down London. I’ve written to the Secretary of State about the decision to strip ENO’s funding unless it leaves the capital & my concerns about the impact this will have on the 300 staff – many of whom live in Hornsey & Wood Green.
Many constituents have emailed me in recent days to express their alarm and upset at the proposals. The arts bring such joy to so many, put billions into our economy and create hundreds of thousands of jobs. We should be celebrating London’s vibrant cultural offering, not starving critical funding.
