Catherine West MP MP for Hornsey & Wood Green and Labour Candidate for Hornsey & Friern Barnet
Last night, the Government suffered a second massive defeat for their botched deal. It is very clear there is no majority in Parliament for the Prime Minister’s proposal and today I’ll be one of many MPs voting to take a catastrophic “no deal” off the table.
But with time ticking down, we need to revoke Article 50 to make “no deal” an impossibility. I’ve sponsored this cross-party amendment calling for the Government to urgently bring forward legislation requiring the PM to revoke Article 50 before 29 March 2019.
It’s not enough to simply say we want no deal. The reality is that unless a deal is agreed before the 29 March or an extension is granted, “no deal” is the default position.
