Labour will reject this bad deal and push for the final say to be given back to the people in a referendum, with remain as an option. I will always campaign and vote to remain, and continue to believe that we are better off as members of the European Union.

I voted for the Letwin amendment which was a crucial step in removing the threat of a no-deal at the end of October as it forces the Prime Minister to request an extension from the EU.  There are still many obstacles ahead, but we now have time to properly scrutinise this botched deal and hold the government and its plans to account.  Importantly, the result also increases our chances of securing a further referendum and giving people a final say on whether we leave the EU.

If Johnson genuinely believed his deal had public support, he wouldn’t fear putting it back to the people.
