12 years of the Tories
12 years of the Tories

This is on the Tories.

They tried to blame everyone except themselves today, but we’re in this mess because of 12 years of failed austerity and low growth.

People in Hornsey & Wood Green are paying the price for Tory Britain.

They’re paying the price with higher bills, crumbling public services, and squeezed wages.

And what did we get today from the Chancellor?  More of the same.  Instead of learning the mistakes of the last decade, they’re repeating them.

No other advanced economy is cutting spending or increasing taxes on working people as they head into a recession.  Have they learnt nothing?

Where they could have found some money today is by closing the non-dom loophole that allows millionaires to dodge tax or ending the tax break that private schools enjoy.

But no.

7 million people on NHS waiting lists, social care on the brink of collapse, schools wondering how to pay their heating bills, food banks running out of food.  The Tories have trashed our public services, pushed millions more families into poverty and today’s statement will do nothing to turn that around.

Labour has a plan for growth, with a fairer, greener economy that would create high quality jobs in homegrown renewables, green hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage.  We’d fix the holes in the Tory Brexit deal and scrap the outdated business rates system so that small businesses and our high streets can thrive.

And we wouldn’t let our public services down.  A Labour Government created the NHS, the next Labour Government will save it.

We need a General Election Now.
