The report published by the Women and Equalities Committee today paints a damning picture of the racial disparities in maternity care and the impact this is having on black women’s lives.  Read the full report here.

This is an issue I have been raising in Parliament since 2021, writing to the Minister and raising formal Parliamentary Questions.  I also hosted a constituency zoom during the pandemic on women’s health, where particular attention was paid to the poor outcomes suffered by black women and their babies. It is desperately sad that the Government has failed to act to improve this situation, despite being well aware.
