Haringey has a proud history welcoming refugees.  This Government’s shameful attitude to refugees goes against the generosity, solidarity, and kindness of our community and what we expect from our Government.  I will always push for an asylum system that treats people with respect and dignity.

The Tories have nothing left except cruel, expensive political gimmicks to try and distract from their record after 14 years in power.  Instead of wasting £290 million and counting for a Daily Mail front page, they need to process their claims backlog, tackle the criminal gangs, and provide safe, legal routes with family reunion schemes for child refugees.

This is a Tory government in disarray, riven by infighting and completely incapable of responding to the needs of the British people. This cannot go on. We need a General Election.
